street search leads to discovery of drug cache

A 26-year-old man with the surname Tang was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs after police stopped him in the street in Tai Po district and found he was carrying 270 grams of cannabis buds. He was taken to a flat nearby where a further 5.5 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds and 180 Ecstasy pills were found. Police said the value of the drugs seized is about HK$1.18 million. Tang was being held last night for questioning.

Police vow quick arrests in domestic violence cases

Police would make prompt arrests in domestic violence cases as part of a series of measures to refine police handling of such cases, Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong said. During a visit to the Yuen Long District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Lee said the force was actively working with the Social Welfare Department in referral cases in adopting a 'multi-disciplinary collaboration' approach to domestic violence.

Restaurant told to pay five workers HK$25,000

A restaurant was ordered to pay more than HK$25,000 to five employees by the Small Claims Tribunal yesterday. The defendant, Max Creator, formerly trading as Hang Hing Seafood Hot Pot Restaurant, was ordered to pay HK$25,571.51 as mandatory contributions and surcharges to the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority.
