The Guardian (IIA)

Kevin Costner plays a veteran coastguard rescue diver whose brave deeds and big personality inspire a hot-headed rookie (Ashton Kutcher). Andrew Davis directs this action-packed but predictable popcorn movie.  AS

Still Life (IIA) (Putonghua)

The film, winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival, portrays the fallout of the Three Gorges Dam project through the experiences of a former miner (Han Sanming) seeking his estranged wife, and a nurse (Zhao Tao) in search of her husband. Jia Zhangke directs.  CT

Alex Fong Chung-shun plays a  cop investigating the business activities of a former mob boss (Ekin Cheng Yee-kin), while Stephen Fung Tak-lun plays  an up-and-coming gangster. James Yuen Sai-sang directs. PF

Death Note: The Last Name  (IIA) (Japanese)

L continues investigating the death of criminals around the world, while Light (Tatsuya Fujiwara) holds the god of  death's notebook, prepared  to do anything to put L off the  trail. Shusuke Kaneko directs.   CT
