GENERAL Electronics said yesterday that profits jumped 41.9 per cent to $33 million for the six months to September 30. Earnings per share were 4.6 cents compared with 3.8 cents. An interim dividend of one cent was declared. There was no dividend in the comparable period. Turnover climbed 43.8 per cent to $637.7 million. The company said increased marketing activities helped to offset poor sales conditions in Europe and the United States.
