Q What do you think of the quality of police in Hong Kong?
One of the great things about our city is the police force. They are, simply, the best in the world. We have essentially the lowest crime rate in any major city you would care to name, and one aspect of that is the way our city is policed. They are competent, well trained, and professional. They are always well turned out, with caps straight, shoes polished and with a proper bearing.
They maintain order by example and persuasion, not by intimidation. And the community policing methods used mean that our officers are a part of the community and don't succumb to the 'us vs. them' mentality we sometimes see in other places.
When I suffered a small theft, the officers and the detective treated it seriously and solved the crime quickly, though it was by no means a large amount.
They took the time to do it right. You respect these people. They do a great job and deserve our credit, thanks and praise.
