SOUTH African David Frost is poised to make his Hong Kong debut in February's Kent Open at Fanling.
Ranked 11th in the world, Frost is in the final stages of negotiations with Hong Kong officials to appear in the US$300,000 event - the second leg of the 1994 Newsweek Asian Tour.
''I've never played in Hong Kong, but I'm hoping I will be able to fit it into my schedule,'' said the 34-year-old, one of the game's most accomplished all-round players.
Although attempts to lure world number one Nick Faldo and former US Masters champion Ian Woosnam to Hong Kong proved fruitless, World Matchplay champion Corey Pavin, a hero of America's Ryder Cup triumph in September, has already confirmed his place in the starting line-up at the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club from February 24-27.
And the participation of a second world-class performer, such as Frost, would be a further boost to the tournament - one of the most popular stops on the 10-leg circuit.
Among other big-name players who have also been approached are Spain's Jose-Maria Olazabal and big-hitting Fijian Vijay Singh.
