Huawei links up with bea to push IMS technology
Huawei Technologies, China's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, has teamed up with Silicon Valley-based BEA Systems to promote internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) technology to communications network operators.
Combining Huawei's IMS application with BEA's WebLogic session initiation protocol server software will allow operators to offer converged fixed-line and mobile services, such as instant messaging and e-mail linked with voice and video services, according to Huawei.
Datang mobile joins drive to boost Linux system
Datang Mobile Communications Equipment, a mainland handset maker, has joined the non-profit global consortium Open Source Development Labs in a drive to increase use of the Linux operating system in mobile devices.
'By joining OSDL, we get the opportunity to collaborate with our peers in a neutral environment,' said Liu Jitang, vice-general manager of Datang Mobile in Shanghai.
