Elderly woman dies after being hit by bus

Updated at 1.16pm: Police are investigating a fatal accident in which an 80-year-old woman was killed by a bus in Mong Kok on Wednesday.

A spokesman said the accident occurred at 7.20am when the woman was crossing Argyle Street.

The bus, driven by a 49-year-old man, knocked her down when turning right into the street from Sai Yee Street, the spokesman said.

The woman suffered serious head injuries. She was certified dead by paramedics at the scene.

Investigations will be taken over by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West.

The spokesman urged people who might have witnessed the accident to call officers on tel: 2773-5200 or 2773-5220.
