THE largest crawler crane ever to be used in Hong Kong has been assembled and commissioned to carry out heavy-lift work at Hong Kong Electric's Lamma Island power station extension project.
The crane is a Demag model CC2600, owned by Japanese crane rental company Watanabe and operated by Chun Kee Engineering and Construction Co.
Service and spares part support for the crane is provided by Inchcape Engineering, Demag's distributor in Hong Kong.
In addition to the heavy lift unit, the CC2600 is equipped with extra long boom combinations, capable of handling the very large loads required at the Lamma island site.
The main boom of the CC2600 is 60 metres long.
Much of the handling jobs carried out by the CC2600 involves erection of steel work that needs to be completed within nine months.
