RAPHAEL CHOI, director of Fredsimon & Co, has been travelling to the mainland once a month to pursue an International MBA (IMBA) at the Shanghai campus of the Sauder School of Business at Canada's University of British Columbia.
The programme's structure - rather than the chance to study in China's most exciting city - encouraged him to pursue a degree at such a distance.
'The programme offers a unique way of training students to handle business problems,' Mr Choi said.
'When we do a business case study, professors from different academic disciplines sit together in a room and discuss the case based on their expertise.'
The programme begins with an integrated core, which provides a foundation in accounting, finance, information technology, operation logistics, marketing and human resources management and strategy.
Team teaching is one of the programme's unique features, allowing students to gain a broad management perspective while cultivating the cross-functional skills necessary to tackle complex business challenges.
There are several advantages to the approach.
