A good old-fashioned, Orson Welles-style storyline, where the aliens even have ray-guns, Project Blue Earth SOS is a six-episode original animated video (OAV) series.

The anime is based on original illustrations done in the 1940s by famed sci-fi Illustrator and model designer Shigeru Komatsuzaki. He worked on Thunderbirds (the original marionette Television version), Atragon and The Mysterians.

In an alternate reality, where the world looks like the futuristic society depicted in Fritz Lang's 1927 film Metropolis, evil aliens plot to take over the world.
