FOUR YOUNG music maestros will battle it out for the Hong Kong Young Musician of the Year 2006 award in this Sunday's grand final. Organised by the Tom Lee Music Foundation, the competition attracted more than 16,000 participants in four instrumental sections - piano, strings, wind and percussion. The champions of the four categories will compete for the prestigious title in the grand final. Among the four young musicians is Aristo Sham Ching-toa, who made headlines in Hong Kong after his award-winning performance at the Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists in Germany in August. Performing alongside Aristo at the grand final will be Mak Yik-fung (wind), Choi Kwan-yeung (strings) and Ng Hoi-ying (percussion), whose achievements are well-recognised in their respective music fields. The grand final will be held on Sunday at the Academic Community Hall, Hong Kong Baptist University. Tickets, at HK$20 for students, are available at HK Ticketing outlets and Tom Lee Music stores.
