A father of three who forced his son to leave home naked was told by a magistrate that his unconventional parenting methods could have mentally harmed the child.

Chan Kwok-yim, 46, admitted yesterday that he expelled his elder son, 10, from their Tin Shui Wai flat after he made his three-year-old brother cry when they were bathing together on October 28.

Chan, who is unemployed, pleaded guilty to a child abuse charge before Principal Magistrate Kwok Wai-kin at Tuen Mun Court.

Mr Kwok reserved sentencing until January 3 pending psychiatric and probation reports. Chan was remanded in custody.

Chan was bound over for two years by Fanling Court last month after he was convicted on a similar charge. In that instance, he forced his son to march naked through the neighbourhood because he did not do his homework.

'You have been using mental abuse to discipline your son,' Mr Kwok said. 'Your behaviour is completely unacceptable. You have severely humiliated your son.'
