The son of property mogul Lee Shau-kee married his sweetheart in Sydney yesterday in an extravagant ceremony masterminded by one of the world's most sought-after wedding planners.
Martin Lee Ka-shing and actress/model Cathy Chui Chi-kay exchanged their vows in the Australian city's Royal Botanic Gardens under a white marquee decorated with pink peonies, with a view of the Sydney Opera House.
Despite heavy rain in the morning, the 24-year-old bride dazzled more than 100 guests on her arrival in a white wedding gown, spectacular 50-carat diamond necklace and a diamond wedding ring estimated to weigh about five carats.
'The necklace is a gift from Lee Ka-shing. I saw a princess wearing this style. I drew a sketch and he got it made,' Chui said.
The model and the 35-year-old groom, younger son of the Henderson Land chairman, were married by a civil celebrant in a ceremony planned by Hollywood party organiser Colin Cowie, who has co-ordinated receptions for such celebrities as Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Charlie Sheen, Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Hefner.
The groom's brother, Lee Ka-kit, and friend Brian Li, son of banker David Li Kwok-po, were best men; Chui's younger sister Daisy and cousin Cecilia were bridesmaids.
