The new and improved Windicator looks set to make light work of a rise in class when he tackles the final leg of tomorrow night's Triple Trip at Happy Valley after coming up with the prized inside alley.

With the TT only being partially won at last week's midweek fixture, the main prize on offer is expected to surpass HK$5 million and the Andy Leung Ting-wah-trained gelding looks set to give punters a walk-up start.

The three-year-old displayed glimpses of ability in his first season of racing in Hong Kong but looked a transformed horse when resuming from a gelding operation over the same course and distance two weeks ago.

Under Douglas Whyte, the Monashee Mountain three-year-old began sharply and travelled strongly after being able to secure the box seat run on the back of the leader Happy Sunday.

Whyte angled off the fence shortly after turning in, strolled to the lead 200m from home and Windicator lengthened like never before to score a hollow victory and smash the previous class record.

In recording one minute and 9.2 seconds for the 1,200m event, he went within one-tenth of a second of equalling the course record of Noble Man, which was set earlier in the season - an amazing performance for a Class Four horse.
