He may work at a gym, but don't expect to see inventor Lucien Gambarota (above) working out there. The Frenchman is working on an experiment to convert energy from step machines and bikes into electricity that will light up California Fitness in Central, but he admits he'll never set foot on any of the machines himself. He said he has to use the gym members as guinea pigs for his experiment because he hates going to the gym and exercising. 'I don't like exercising on those machines. I think exercising is dangerous.' He said he shared his aversion to exercise with the late British prime minister Winston Churchill, a man known for chomping on a fat cigar and sipping fine red wines than for any physical activity. 'When Churchill was about 70 years old, a reporter asked him why he was still in very good shape. 'Sports,' he said, 'I never practise any.''
