Jamiroquai's High Times Singles 1992-2006 is a collection of danceable singles.
Jamiroquai and lead singer Jay Kay are pop survivors. The band was one the pioneers of the early 1990s acid jazz movement.
They became known for their irresistible blend of house rhythms and 1970s' soul/ funk, as well as Kay's hilarious onstage image, characterised by his crazy hats. His soulful voice is often compared to Stevie Wonder's.
The compilation is a good introduction to Jamiroquai's dazzling 15-year history. It features hits including early classics Emergency on Planet Earth, a eco-friendly dance track, anti-war anthem Too Young to Die, and Space Cowboy, a perfect example of the band's trademark fusion of soul, funk and acid jazz.
If you're in the mood for party songs, High Times, Alright and Cosmic Girl from the best-selling album Travelling Without Moving, should fit the bill.
Particular recommendations are laid-back tracks Corner of the Earth from A Funk Odyssey, and Seven Days in Sunny June from the last album Dynamite. The chill-out vibes mentally transport you to a sun-kissed, breezy beach, just lying back and relaxing with friends.
