GRAND Vefour should be followed closely at his next couple of outings after an eye-catching run in the seventh event won by Chiu Chow Warrior. The French import, who had excellent two-year-old form at home before joining Patrick Biancone and then moving to Peter Ng Bik-kuen, ran home strongly and looked most unlucky not to edge Namjong Again out of the quinella. The 1,200 metres also seemed a touch on the short side for Grand Vefour. In the same race there was a bold first-up showing from Ivan Allan's Sumotori who didn't appear to be fully wound-up for his Hong Kong debut. Plenty to mull over from yesterday's third event in which the Derek Cruz-trained Souper put in a most promising effort. He probably needs a mile to run to his full potential and was checked after some 200 metres in this 1,400-metre event.
