Simon Yam Tak-wah is busy juggling family and a film career. The new year will see him shooting PTU2 and The Iron Triangle, both directed by Johnnie To, as well as a UK production of the biblical tale Exodus. Domestically, he is a happy father raising his two-year-old daughter with his model wife Qi Qi. Recently appointed as Vision Ambassador for the World Eye Organisation, founded by his good friend Dominic Lam Man-kit, the 51-year-old actor attended the opening of Lam's charitable exhibition of calligraphic paintings 'Bliss of Vision IX' at Lee Gardens last week. Yam, known for his passion for photography and calligraphy, said that his daughter imitated him when he practised calligraphy. 'I reserved a wall for her to draw on. It's sort of like graffiti,' he said. Besides nurturing her artistic talents, Yam hoped to boost his daughter's proficiency in Putonghua too. 'My wife and I talk to our daughter in Putonghua every day. She can speak it fluently now ... It's important to learn the Chinese language and culture as a Chinese,' he said.
