THE Australian Mutual Provident Society (AMP) in Hong Kong has promoted Simon Chung to branch manager.

  Mr Chung will supervise a team of more than 20 life underwriters and will be responsible for the overall management of the branch operations, including business development, agency recruitment and sales training.

    Mr Chung has more than 10 years' experience in the life insurance industry in the territory. ALLIEDSIGNAL Aerospace has appointed Sanford K. Dawson as vice-president and country manager of China.

   AlliedSignal plans to expand its China aerospace activities in sales, distribution, manufacturing and repairs.

  Mr Dawson will be responsible for implementing these plans from Shanghai.

    He was formerly managing director of Stephens Asia Ltd. He has been in the Far East for 12 years. PRUDENTIAL Asia, the Asian investment arm of Prudential Insurance Company of America, has promoted two executives in its fund management unit, effective from tomorrow:     Francis Wong Chi-wai has been made director of fund management and Takeshi Shirakawa becomes assistant director of fund management.

    Mr Wong joined Prudential Asia in 1992 as a market specialist for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He was previously an Asia-Pacific specialist for Ivory and Sime.

    Mr Shirakawa joined Prudential Asia in 1992 as a Japan analyst. He was previously an analyst with Sanyo Securities. DIGITAL Equipment Corporation has appointed Teresa Leung to head its partnership development programme with software developers throughout Asia.

    Ms Leung joins Digital from the ASK Group, where she was regional marketing manager for Ingres database software.

    Her job will be to assist Asian countries in developing programs and create partnerships. INDOSUEZ Asset Management Asia Ltd, an investment management house, has appointed Irene Wong as its sales manager, concentrating on local Chinese sales.

    Ms Wong will be responsible for selling unit trusts to domestic retail clients and to investment advisers in Hong Kong.

    She has more than 10 years' experience in investment and finance as well as experience in banking. SAN Miguel Brewing International Limited, which oversees San Miguel's international operations, has announced new management appointments for the group'sHong Kong and China operations.

    Fernando Gaspar, who was formerly managing director of San Miguel Brewery Ltd and chairman of Guangzhou San Miguel Brewery Co Ltd, will oversee the group's expansion into China.

  He has become vice-president, China Business Development, of San Miguel Brewing International Ltd.

  Stuart McGregor will take over from Mr Gaspar as managing director of San Miguel Brewery Ltd in Hong Kong.

   Mr Gaspar has been with San Miguel for 19 years. He has held various senior management positions in Manila, including that of director of planning and new business ventures.

      Mr McGregor was Carlton and United Breweries Ltd's general manager of Victorian Wine and Spirits and was later company secretary.

    KRAS Asia Ltd has promoted K. C. Leung from process equipment manager to senior engineering manager.

   Mr Leung will be responsible for all of Kras Asia's engineering designs in tooling (mould and die), systems, automation and research and development work. He joined Kras Asia 10 years ago as an equipment engineer.

  HONG Kong Commercial Broadcasting has made George Joseph Ho deputy chairman. He will remain as executive director of ABC Communications (Holdings) Ltd.

      Mr Ho graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and went on to gain his law degree from Harvard University. He was involved in sales for Commercial Radio before entering into private law practice in San Francisco.
