The degree requires a course of advanced study and research of usually three to four years full time, including the production of a thesis. Candidates will be required to submit and present their full proposal within a year, and are expected to present a thesis within five years of registration. Requirements Due to the broad, interdisciplinary nature of environmental studies, students may be required to take a further candidacy exam at the discretion of the director and their supervisory committee.
