Ah Wing, 26, has a face many would consider attractive. Her eyes are big, nose straight, lips evenly shaped. But she's not satisfied and considering surgery.
'I don't mind artificial beauty. I don't think it is a problem that I want to be prettier. I want my nose to be higher and my face whiter. I want perfection.'
A shop assistant at a travel agency, Ah Wing was one of 400 people who attended yesterday's promotion at a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel for cosmetic surgery tours to South Korea. Grabbing the company's brochure, dominated by before-and-after pictures, she looked excited. Next to her was her equally keen younger sister.
Ah Wing admits her interest in cosmetic surgery was sparked by Korean dramas and movies. 'Many Korean actresses have had plastic surgery and they look so pretty. I saw their before-and-after pictures on websites. They were made to look so beautiful after plastic surgery. That inspired me.'
She is prepared to pay as much as HK$20,000 for a nose makeover. 'More and more Hong Kong women have plastic surgery in private hospitals,' she said, adding she is determined to have it done despite the objections of her boyfriend.
Meanwhile, Ms Rain, 21, listened intently to the speakers, experts who explained the operations and actress Natalie Ng, who gave details of her surgery.
