Young basketball players take note: a 3-on-3 streetball competition is now open for applications.
The Smoke-free 3-on-3 Streetball Basketball Competition for Students 2006-2007 will be held at the Southorn Playground in Wan Chai on February 24 and 25 from 12pm-8pm.
Streetball is faster than the regular five-a-side game. It lasts just 10 minutes, and the clock never stops.
Chan Chun-lai, who was part of the winning team in last year's Grade A category, said the competition was very exciting and fast-paced.
'It is a game that can change very quickly and easily. One minute you could be behind by two points, then suddenly you may be ahead by several points,' she said. 'You cannot assume that the elite teams will win, because games can be very unpredictable.'
Chan, 19, has been playing basketball for eight years. She won the 2005/2006 New Territories Secondary Schools Outstanding Athlete Award for basketball, presented by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation (HKSSF).
