Husband arrested for arson after quarrel
A man was arrested for arson and resisting arrest after he set alight gloves, towels, a plastic bag and a rubbish bin at his home in Yuen Long. The man, 47, who appeared to have been drinking heavily, quarrelled with his wife, 48, and son, 24, when he returned to his Hor Ping House flat in Long Ping Estate at about 1.50am. After the dispute, he burned items on a gas stove in the kitchen. His wife put out the fire. He then locked himself in a bedroom and, when smoke began spilling out, fire officers were called. They broke into the bedroom and found him asleep, with a burned plastic bag, towel and rubbish bin beside the bed.
Minibus driver attacked by 2 men in Kwun Tong
A minibus driver was chopped on the arms and legs by two men on board his vehicle in Kwun Tong. The 49-year-old man had just arrived to pick up the red-topped minibus at the terminal at the junction of Hip Wo and Tung Yan streets when the attack happened at about 5.55am. As he was about to drive off, two men, one carrying a knife, attacked him before fleeing on foot. He was in stable condition in United Christian Hospital last night.
Falling window injures woman in mong kok
A 24-year-old woman was injured when she was hit by an aluminium window that fell from a high-rise building in Yin Chong Street, Mong Kok, at about 4am yesterday. Police said the woman had suffered swelling to the head, but no bleeding. She was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital. Police are trying to determine where the window came from.
