Siempre by Il Divo

Il Divo's formula for success - transforming well-known pop songs into their unique operatic style - continues to charm fans. But on their new album Siempre (Always), they've spiced up their act with a Latin flavour.

The group was discovered during a worldwide search by Simon Cowell, the notorious American Idol judge. Described by critics as 'Armani tenors', the handsome quartet have learned all the marketing tricks.

The selection of cover versions in Siempre proves their ambition to conquer fans around the world. Opening track Nights in White Satin, once sung by Canto-pop star Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, will appeal to the Hong Kong audience. The cover of Westlife's You Raise Me Up is perfect for boy-band fans.

The quartet also has something for rock and pop lovers, with Brian Adams' Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman, and Mariah Carey's Without You. Il Divo give overly sentimental ballads a touch of class as their enchanting voices are interwoven with the orchestral accompaniment.

The addition of a Latin feel almost makes you forget how sappy the songs were originally.
