True Light Girls' College

I was a cheering team member  for Yellow House at the last Sports Day. I  cheered for my classmates all day long.

The most exciting event was the hurdles. Competitors  have to  sprint and jump over six high hurdles.

Although some students failed to jump over the hurdles, they did not give up. They  finished the race.  I really admired them.

All cheering team members  were very enthusiastic and we all wanted to win.

But  even though we didn't win, we all developed  friendships  and had a great experience. It was really an unforgettable experience.

Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School

Chiu Lut Sau Memorial Secondary School held its 24th Speech Day on December 2. The event was  attended by parents, students, alumni and other  members of the school community.

We were especially honoured to have  Ivy Lau as our guest.

Ms Lau is a graduate of CLSMSS,  who is currently the Deputy Special Magistrate of the Judiciary of HKSAR.

She delivered a very powerful message  emphasising the need for students to value the encouragement and support afforded by parents and the school community.

She told students to treasure the time spent and the experiences gained  at school, and urged them to be active participants in the learning process, which includes studying and participating in extra-curricular activities.

She also reminded students to work consistently at achieving a successful, fun-filled school life.

Finally, she  warned students against becoming involved in criminal activities.

Through her  involvement in  court hearings, she has witnessed a rapid increase in the number of juvenile offenders.

She said many offenders, when brought before the courts, claim ignorance of the law.

Ms Lau stressed that ignorance of consequences or of the law is not an excuse  in any court

The Principal,  Margaret Lo, commented on the importance of nurturing relationships, especially those between students and their school.

She concluded by mentioning that the guest of honour was a shining example of that special relationship which should exist between student and school.

Although Miss Lau graduated from the school in 1991, she has continued to maintain contact with the school.

Ha Kwai Chung Government Secondary School

Graduates and prize-winners attended the Ha Kwai Chung Government Secondary School's 25th Speech Day ceremony.

The principal not only commended the students' improved public exam results, but also their outstanding performance in various inter-school competitions.

Students also performed well in various activities, such as the Junior Achievement Company Programme and Chinese Creative Writing Workshops.

The guest-of-honour, Tang Fat-yuen, Principal Assistant Secretary (QA) of Education and Manpower Bureau, said he hoped that students could bear in mind these three steps to success: setting a goal; achieving the goal with perseverance and courage; and reflective assessment of their achievement.

The ceremony ended on a high note with  a vibrant performance of  African drums and the singing of the school song.

CCC Heep Woh College

Everyone enjoyed  CCC Heep Woh College's 34th Athletic Meet held at Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground in Kowloon last December.

The competition consisted of inter-house track and field events. Members of all four houses did their best to win the overall championship, while parents, alumni and staff joined the students to spice up the competition.

The highlight was a 4x100m mixed relay of parents, alumni, students and staff, including our principal,  Lam Yee-wah, teachers and janitors.

The event   reflected the ideal of whole-school participation and commitment.

John Fan Kam-ping, honourable president of the Hong Kong School Sports Federation, was the guest- of-honour  at the event's closing ceremony.

He praised the good spirits and commitment of the whole school.
