Crystal Kwok Kam-yan, who has been retired from acting for more than 10 years, is set to appear in The Vagina Monologues from tomorrow to Sunday alongside stage veterans Perry Chiu Woon and Lo Koon-lan. Kwok (left) loves the sexually charged play for its frank handling of female sexuality. 'It's fascinating. I am very interested in issues related to sex,' she says.

She got herself involved in the Cantonese version of the play despite her rusty Cantonese.

While presumably open-minded about sex because she was raised in America, the mother-of-three is surprisingly uptight about delivering the provocative dialogue in Eve Ensler's Obie award-winning play, which has been performed all over the world.

She turned down the potentially embarrassing role of a sex worker, which involves making moaning sounds in one scene.

'I struggled a bit when I read the script. I didn't think I could do it. My husband might not like it.

'Maybe you think I am open-minded about these issues, but I'd like to keep it private when it gets personal,' she said.
