Losing a bit of extra weight after giving birth to twins turned lawyer Janine Canham into a fit, long-distance runner. Her boys, Josh and Sam, were born three months premature 21/2 years ago. They suffered brain haemorrhages and had to have blood transfusions in what was a very frightening time for the parents.
Canham's new-found fitness will be put to the test when she runs the London Marathon on April 22. Josh and Sam are now fit and fun toddlers, and Canham would like to help other parents who go through the fear of having premature children by raising money for a charity called Bliss. It is based in the UK but carries out research into premature babies worldwide.
'I do one long run a week in Sai Kung Country Park, which is near my home, and once a week I do speed training,' said Canham, who also runs a nanny service.
'I was allowed to bring my babies home after 10 weeks when they weighed five pounds each. I want to run and raise money for this charity as it's a cause very close to my heart.'
