Famed French interior designer Andree Putman (right) is in Hong Kong for a photo shoot for the Putman brochure ahead of the April-ish opening of a block of 'uber luxurious' apartments called The Putman that will set you back HK$50,000 a month in rent.
Uber luxurious versus luxurious, kind of like the difference between first-class and business-class air travel - pay the extra and get a glass of bubbly and a pair of pyjamas thrown in. Putman has been trailed by a French TV crew who are doing programmes on Putman, 24 hours in the life. 'It's been all go,' said a PR spokeswoman. 'Photo shoots and dinners, but she also caught up with old friends.'
Putman's work not only includes apartment interiors, but also a silverware and jewellery collection with Christofle, a porcelain collection for Gaia & Gino, a champagne cooler for Veuve Clicquot and an ultimate evolution of the legendary steamer bag from Louis Vuitton.
A what? I was going to say I'm quite happy with my legendary Wing On rice cooker, but apparently a steamer bag is what you take on cruises. Uber luxurious ones.
