A 1950s-style mink coat was among items showcased last month at the Designers Love Fur competition 2007, organised by the Hong Kong Fur Federation's Young Executive Committee. In all, 380 sketches were submitted by local designers and students, with 44 selected for final judging at the InterContinental Hong Kong. The collection included items from Bonita Cheung Kit-man, William Tang Tat-chi, Benny Yeung Chun-yuen and Lu Lu Cheung. The theme was the Myriad Facets of Luxe, inspired by the beauty and complexity of modern architecture. 'The Hong Kong fur design competition is a valuable breeding ground for new talent,' says Young Executive Committee chairman Christopher Lam. 'All participants have demonstrated strong commitment and skills in creating fur fashions. 'We hope the awards will give students recognition and encourage them to explore their originality and design talent.'
