Singaporean health products company Osim is being sued by a customer who claims her legs were injured after being trapped in one of the firm's foot massagers.
Wong Hoi-yin is seeking HK$50,000 in the small claims tribunal, including a refund of the purchase price of the massager and medical expenses.
She alleges the iSqueez massager stopped working part-way through the session, trapping her feet, and by the time she freed her legs they were swollen and painful.
The hearing will continue on April 20, after Ms Wong rejected a HK$2,831 counter-offer from the company yesterday - a simple refund.
Speaking outside the tribunal, Ms Wong said she used to be a fan of Osim, 'but now I am too scared to use any products of this company'.
She bought the massager in Tuen Mun in November 2005 and it stopped on the night of June 6 last year. The machine clamped tightly on her feet. After a few minutes of struggle, she pulled her legs out. 'I saw bruises and redness on my legs and ankles,' she said.
