It seems the new Central Pier is not just a terminal for the Star Ferry. On Thursday night, the second floor and roof were turned over to luxury brand Fendi for its spring/summer fashion show. As venues go, the enclosed front of the second floor was a bit small for the large turnout, but it's another option for companies looking for something different from the usual IFC and Central nightspots. Certainly, Fendi couldn't have done this at the old Star Ferry Pier, but who knows what cross-harbour commuters thought of the ruckus above them while they waited. Plus, it was great for the taxi trade. What socialite in her right mind was going to endure the 10-minute walk back to Central in four-inch heels?
