Michelle Chan

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) announced the appointment of nine Honorary Court Members last Friday.

These Honorary Court Members will help promote HKBU's development  alongside the university's Council Members and Court Members.

The nine appointed members  are Abraham Chan, Anthony Chan, John Chan, Ho Tzu-leung, Lui Chak-wan, Vincent Lo, William Mong, Alfred Tang and Anthony Yeung.

They are all community leaders, mostly directors and chairmen of  their companies.

Their membership  was proposed by committee members and  voted for by the university's Council Board.

The appointments  will last for five years.

'We hope these appointments  will further strengthen the link between HKBU and the community,' said Ng Ching-fai, president and vice-chancellor of HKBU.

'We also hope to encourage more distinguished  people to assist in the university's advancement.

'Some [of the new members] are also advisers  on the university committee and know  a lot about the university.

'Their  involvement will  definitely benefit HKBU's long-term development.'

Many of the Honorary Court Members  participate in community service and charity work   so they are capable of   looking after the university's fund-raising events.
