Man held over Indonesian investors' complaint
A man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of evading liability by deception over allegations by investors from Surabaya, Indonesia, that they could not get repayment of about US$1 million they put in two offshore investment funds. The investors came to Hong Kong and lodged a complaint with police at the weekend. Officers from the Commercial Crime Bureau arrested the man, surnamed Wong, 43, at an office in a Wan Chai. He was being questioned by police and no charges had been laid.
H5N1 found in birds
Two birds found dead in Mong Kok a week ago had H5N1 bird flu. The silver-eared mesias were found in Boundary Street. A spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department reminded people to avoid contact with wild birds and live poultry.
Talks on Cepa expansion
Hong Kong and mainland officials met to discuss expansion of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement which grants preferential market access for firms on each side of the border.
