Australian musician Colin Minifie (below) doesn't need to carry instruments. He can just go to any market and pick something from the fresh produce. That's because he uses fruits and vegetables - including a cabbage, banana, pineapple and potato - to play music. The vege-mentalist will be the Lunar New Year's attraction at Sha Tin's New Town Plaza 3 starting today until next Tuesday (except holiday Sunday). 'It's a very tasty job,' he jokes, before carving an apple into a wind instrument in front of us. Minifie has been touring the world performing with the healthiest food group for the past 30 years and is quick to adapt to the vegetables of each region. 'In Australia, I use cauliflower which is popular, but the cauliflowers we found in Hong Kong were very small, so instead I will use broccoli. Same type of thing but bigger, so that I can make more holes,' he explains. His next project? To make a veggie guitar and violin. Any requests for some Smashing Pumpkins? Minifie's performances are at 4pm each day.
