Journey of life

New Omnimax show Mystic India  is showing until July 30 at Hong Kong Space Museum.

A period film set two hundred years  ago, it retraces the journey of Neelkanth, an 11-year old child yogi.  In 1792,  he walked barefoot for 12,000km  over 7 years,  from the Himalayas to the southern  shores.

He later became a great reformer,  dispelling violence and social divisions in India, while stressing respect for all forms of life.

Tickets cost HK$12 (front stalls) and HK$16 (stalls) for students, and are available from Urbtix on 2734 9009.

East-meets-west concert

The Hong Kong Sinfonietta  present  A Very Chinese New Year Concert.

Conductor Edwin Outwater, violinist Natsuko Yoshimoto and percussionist Chau Chin-tung will offer audiences  a mix of happy  Chinese and western  tunes.

The concert will be held on February 23 at 8pm at Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall.

Tickets cost HK90, HK$70 and HK$50  (HK$180, HK$140, and HK$100 for adults) and are available  from Urbtix.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year

Cathay Pacific will present their annual New Year Night Parade this Sunday to usher in the Year of Pig.

The colourful parade features  decorated  floats, marching bands and cheerleaders from the USA, stilt walkers from New Zealand, flamenco dancers from Spain, and  performers from Japan and Korea.

The parade will  start at 8pm  at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, and proceed along Canton Road, Kowloon Park Drive and Salisbury Road.
