An agent, in post-war eastern Germany, is assigned to spy on  a playwright, with whom he gradually sympathises and protects. Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's directorial debut was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2007 Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.  CT
