Dozens of exchange students from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) mingled with local students over the Lunar New Year holiday to get a taste of traditional Chinese customs.
Last week, a group of HKBU students organised fai chun (auspicious red couplets) writing workshops for their foreign friends and visited the boisterous new year fair in Victoria Park with them.
With help from their local hosts, the exchange students bargained with stall owners and bought a variety of pig-themed products.
It was the first time that many of them had witnessed how Chinese celebrate the Lunar New Year.
The exchange students were also taught how to write their names in Chinese.
A festive feast featuring all manner of auspicious food, such as red melon seeds and lucky dumplings, was also arranged for them.
