A 44-YEAR-OLD man, accused of defrauding more than $10 million from a company in the sale of a plot of land which he claimed to own, appeared in Western Court yesterday. Si Nang-weng, a Macau resident, originally faced a single charge of using a forged identity card. Yesterday, the prosecution added a charge of obtaining property by deception. Si allegedly dishonestly obtained more than $10.6 million from Ying Ho Company by purporting to be the owner of a plot of land in Tsuen Wan which he allegedly sold to the company on December 13. Magistrate Ian Candy remanded the defendant in custody until January 25.
