Hometown helps boost spirits
What does the word 'hometown' mean?
People originate from different places, but I believe my classmates and I may be family members if we go back a few generations.
My family makes an annual visit to our hometown of Dongguan . We see our relatives, hang around town and pray in front of our ancestors' graves.
I have fun asking my friends, especially those with the same surname as mine, about their hometown. Villagers in my hometown share the same surname - 'Cheung'.
I once asked a friend, 'Where is your hometown?' I was surprised when he said: 'I don't know.'
I understand that young people in Hong Kong may no longer have contacts with their distant relatives in their hometowns. But they should at least have some knowledge of their hometown.
