The new Luxe Manor boutique hotel, near Knutsford Terrace, is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner at its Italian restaurant, Aspasia. The space seats 88 and the interior is divided into four zones: the Study, the Parlour, the Bar and the Conservatory. Designer David Buffery (of Aedas Interiors), responsible also for Central's FINDS and Lotus, used familiar elements of his surreal style.
Chef Roland Schuller (once of Chez Roland, in Causeway Bay, and Roland's Terrace, Wan Chai) returns to Hong Kong with a seasonal a la carte menu, which features starters such as tomato water with langoustine and clams (below right; HK$168) and wild mushroom bruschetta with black trumpet ice cream (HK$98). Primi include spaghetti alla bottarga with mixed nuts and green chilli (HK$178) and lasagnette with tomatoes and Robiola cheese (HK$168). Secondi feature turbot with truffled salsify and tomatoes (HK$268) and Roman-style braised oxtail with chocolate powder (HK$248), while for dessert there's Belgian chocolate cake with Catalan ice cream and coffee sabayon (HK$108) and apple tart with gingerbread ice cream (HK$88).
At lunch, Aspasia offers executive sets (HK$168-HK$218) as well as the a la carte menu. At dinner, the six-course tasting menu, which includes langoustine carpaccio and baby lamb, will set you back HK$588 (plus 10 per cent). The extensive wine list emphasises Italian vintages.
Aspasia is in the Luxe Manor, 39 Kimberly Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 3763 8800.
