HKUST makes stern breakthrough
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology's business school is to launch a joint global finance programme with Stern School of Business, New York University. The two schools signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday to start the programme in September. The two-year course is Stern's first partnership with an Asian business school.
Harsh realities put to test
Around 300 secondary school students are experiencing first hand the life of a refugee this weekend in an event aimed at promoting awareness of the impact of major world events such as disasters and war. Organised by the HKAYP Schools Operating Authority in conjunction with the charity World Vision, the event challenges the students' skills in teamwork and ingenuity as they face a series of hardships.
Hard-won rights threatened
A lack of education for girls in countries such as Afghanistan and the number of women living in poverty were among the issues raised at an International Women's Day forum at City University this week. Staff and students also raised concerns that some of the gains won by women were in danger of being lost in some parts of the world.
