Watch: Maurice Lacroix Pontos GMT. 'A gift from my wife.'

Suit: Pal Zileri white three-piece tuxedo. 'I don't usually dress up outside work. When I do put on a suit, I like to go all the way. My fanciest would be the suit I got married in. I paired it with a white Baroni bow-tie and shoes from Bally.'

Shoes: Ecco. 'I'm very faithful to the brand - their shoes hold up really well.'

Car: BMW 328 convertible in aubergine. 'I love driving around with the top down.'

Classical piece: 'Whatever I'm performing I play like my life depends on it.'

On your iPod: 'I don't own one. When I'm not performing, I like the silence.'

Currently reading: The Contented Little Baby Book by Gina Ford. 'We're six months along and very excited and ready for our baby.'

Always on hand: Ray-Ban polarised wrap-arounds. 'I believe in protecting the eyes at all times. Yes, I'm that jerk who wears sunglasses indoors.'

Most comfortable in: 'It's a toss-up between my Shanghai Tang flannel pyjamas and my golf clothes - mainly Brivan, a line of athletic wear perfect for Hong Kong weather.'

Hero: Maria Callas. 'As a musician, she gets to the heart of a piece. She always believed in not going for the easy pyrotechnics, instead digging deeper into the music's meaning.'

Charity: The Red Cross. 'I've worked with them on several occasions for benefit recitals - most memorably for the big earthquake in Taiwan in 1997. I admire what they do.'

Two things to take to a desert island: 'A nice sandwich and a golf ball that floats.'
