Children should have happy, care-free life
Many children join extra-curricular activities, including music and kung fu lessons, during weekends.
Some of them are forced to attend the classes by their parents, who have high expectations of their children. They don't realise this could harm their child's development.
This trend has its advantages and disadvantages.
Children who attend extra-curricular activities can develop different skills.
This may help children to enter top secondary schools and even get a well-paying job in the future. Many employers prefer to hire all-rounders rather than those who have excelled only in their studies.
Everything is not rosy though. With the extra lessons, children will have less time to play or follow their own interests. They could be stressed out and unhappy.
