Punter tunes out
AFTER reading a report (Sunday Morning Post, January 2) that the horse racing in Macau would be covered 'live' by Metro Plus, I decided to stay home and have a small telebet wager on the seventh event. Having made a single tierce bet using the number fourhorse as my banker with the field, there was a fair degree of celebration when it was announced that the horse had indeed won. As I waited for the announcement concerning the dividends, another voice came over reminding me that I was ''tuned to Metro Plus''.
Then came three minutes of news reading, followed by Phil Collins' singing.
I switched the radio off and called the Macau Jockey Club's betting information number instead, only to learn horse number six had won the race and number four had run second. Such scattered 'live' broadcasts only end up being irritating. HANS EBERT Tai Tam
