Many people have asked me what I want to be when I grow up. When I was young, I said that I wanted to be a nurse.

But recently, I've changed my mind. I want to be a lawyer when I grow up. I might change my mind again, but I've realised that whatever job I do it must be one that does good in the world. I want a job not only for the money but also to help others.

If I can be a lawyer when I grow up, I will try my best to do my job well and not be a disappointment to my parents.

Thanks for your letter, Yolanda. It reminds me of something I heard last week.

I attended a talk by the travel writer Jan Morris as part of the Literary Festival. I was most impressed by something she said, not on the subject of travel, but more on her philosophy of life. She said the most important quality in life was kindness - it's something so simple, something that we all understand. 'If we could think about kindness more,' she said, 'the world would be a happier place.'
