Charting its course for expansion, Martek Marine, a British-based company that designs, manufactures and markets safety and environmental systems for sea-going vessels worldwide, is looking to introduce new products into the marine market and expand its global presence.
To help meet its goals, the company is recruiting an experienced sales manager to join the Asia-Pacific regional centre. The candidate will be fully responsible for the rapidly expanding Greater China shipbuilding and shipowning market.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years of sales experience and a technical or engineering background, preferably in the marine industry. A good education level is expected, and while a degree is preferred it is not essential.
More important is the ability to work on your own initiative and a willingness to take full responsibility for assigned duties. A high comfort level with English, Cantonese and Putonghua will also go a long way to making an impression. Once on board, the incumbent will need to conduct business meetings fully in these languages so applicants will be tested during the interview.
The appointee will report to the general manager for Asia-Pacific and will need to contact agents and customers throughout the region. The candidate will advise on system configurations, calculate quotations, provide technical support co-ordination and act as delivery and installation liaison.
