CSL New World eases operations with service-oriented architecture
CSL New World Mobility, Hong Kong's biggest cellular network operator, has revamped its information technology operations by adopting a service-oriented architecture (SOA), following a growing trend in the Asia-Pacific region.
'This transformation has allowed us to more closely align and reuse existing assets to achieve our business goals and increase our operational efficiency and productivity,' said Cecilia Tseung Chor-ping, vice-president of IT development at CSL New World Mobility.
The operator, which was created from the merger of CSL and New World Mobility last year, implemented an SOA project based on technology from United States business integration specialist Tibco Software.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
SOA is known as an approach to building an IT environment where all computing network resources are integrated and made available as independent services that are easily accessed and reused, whatever platform they are based on.
CSL New World Mobility, controlled by Australia's Telstra Corp, used Tibco's BusinessWorks solution to trim its service activation time to less than a second and allow for the real-time transfer of customer information into a data warehouse.
