Woman and daughter rescued from ledge

Firemen rescued a woman and her nine-year-old daughter from a window ledge outside an 11th-floor flat in Yuen Long yesterday.

Police last night arrested the woman, 39, for ill-treating her daughter.

Emergency crews were called when the woman and her daughter were found by a neighbour sitting on a ledge outside the flat in Wang Fat Path. They were taken to Tuen Mun Hospital for a check-up.

In a separate case, a couple, both aged 38, who burned charcoal in a suicide attempt at home in Tuen Mun were rescued after the man changed his mind and called police.

The couple were conscious when police and paramedics arrived at their Ho Wong Street flat in Tai Hing Gardens.
