Hogan
How did it begin?
Accessories label Hogan is part of the Tod's Group and was launched in 1986 by Italian luxury goods maker Diego Della Valle. He took over the shoe business established by his grandfather and father in the 1970s, turning Tod's into a successful brand, whose accessories and clothing are popular with fashionistas and celebrities.
Hogan was set up as a younger counterpart to Tod's, focusing mainly on sporty and casual styles. Its first pair of trainers, Traditionalist, resembled cricket shoes and have become a signature style.
A junior line for children was launched in 1996, featuring favourites from the adult line. The next year, Hogan released its Interactive trainers, with the brand's first signature insignia - a discreet H on either side of the shoe. The first handbag, Panamerican, was released in 2000 and praised by fashion editors for its fusion of function and style. That year, Hogan also opened its first store in Japan, followed by others in Milan and New York.
Della Valle's son, Emanuele, became head of the brand in 2001 and began marketing the label's trainers and leather goods to the young jet-set.
