Medical staff assaults down 16pc

The number of assaults against medical staff in public hospitals fell by 16 per cent to 616 last year, from 736 in 2005. The Hospital Authority paid more than HK$2 million in compensation to assaulted staff last year, compared with HK$3.5 million in 2005.
